(7 photos of a 1966 Candy Apple Red Mustang Convertible) "Aunt Myrna, if you ever want to sell your Mustang, let us know." This is what Allan and Nancy Eisentraut told their aunt Myrna of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. Myrna bought the car new in 1966, drove it for years, then stored it in her garage for 16 years, untouched. Finally, one day in 1986, Allan and Nancy, got a call from Myrna. She wanted to sell them the car. Allan went there with his mechanic son. They pulled the Mustang out of the garage with the tires sliding on the ground. They were froze up with rust. After pounding the rust off the wheels to get them to turn; then taking the spark plugs out, pouring oil into the spark plug holes; and pouring gas into the carburetor, the Mustang started up - surprisingly, even with the old battery. It was quite rusty and a body man told them not to wait too long to have it taken car of. Within a year, the car had been repainted. Everything is still original on the car, right down to the plaid carpet in the trunk. This was our featured Attitude Of The Week picture for 8-26-07.

(7 photos of a 1966 Candy Red Mustang Fastback) Candy Red 1966 Mustang fastback owned by Dana Bowers from Ft Myers, Florida. This special paint is a two step process. A transparent (candy) red paint is applied over a silver basecoat. Notice how far the hood opens. This one has a set of special hinges which allows the hood to open farther than with stock hinges. The engine is a 302ci V8. Dana adds, "We had looked for about six months for a car when I found this one online for sale in Nashville, Tennessee . It was being used for 1/4 mile track racing. I think that is what saved the car as it never saw the road or bad weather. It has all original sheet metal and floor pans. We spent two years restoring and updating all the mechanicals and paint. Now we just enjoy showing and driving it."

Had her for one year so far. She is a driver. Had one just like it in 1968, till someone brought their car through my passenger side. I sat on the curb and cried. I have had several more 65 and 66s through the years but nothing like this. I bought it turn key, but had to add on to make it mine. I am 64 years old and feel like a kid when we out in it. Lots of fun, and looks! This car makes us happy."

Set up to meet SCCA vintage safety standards. I have ran this car since 1993, shifts at 8,400 rpm under track conditions and have never had any issues with this hard charging solid roller power plant, minus some wiring and many carb changes. Using the R model front end to move air where needed with a cowl hood to achieve max efficiency. Interior is a stock look, minus roll bar, belts and radio delete. I still utilize the factory shifter. I do drive short runs on the road but between the kidney killer suspension and 4 to 6 miles a gallon, it's a little tough but I FREAKING LOVE IT."
